Joshua Meets with Donna Skelly, MPP to Discuss Mental Health and the Ontario Health Care System Resources
16 February 2024
Today Joshua met with Donna Skelly, MPP for Flamborough–Glanbrook and Deputy-Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, to discuss matters about mental health and the addictions crisis, suicide prevention, access to mental health and eating disorder resources in Hamilton and Ontario, as well as the Ontario health care system.
This meeting comes following the release of the 2024 Mental Health Calls of Action where calls of action are being made to the Government of Ontario to improve access to resources, mental health education, and more. This meeting was part of a 4 month long tour series of meetings highlighting select calls on both the federal and provincial levels to improve the mental health of everyone.
MPP Skelly reaffirmed her support for mental health resources for people in Hamilton and beyond as well as her commitment to ensuring that Ontario's broken health care system is fixed and able to provide the care that Ontarians deserve - including proper resources for mental health, eating disorder support, and more. Conversations about the recent health care announcement between the Federal and Provincial governments were also discussed and the impact that this will have for people seeking care in Ontario.
Ongoing conversations will continue to happen throughout the year to continue to advocate this important topic.
