Joshua Meets with MP Chad Collins to Discuss Mental health and a National 988

15 August 2022

Today Joshua met with Member of Parliament Chad Collins, MP for Hamilton East-Stoney Creek, where a productive meeting was virtually held that explored topics around the need for a National 988 Suicide and Crisis Line, community mental health, youth suicide prevention, and more.

This meeting comes following the release of a public open letter to Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, calling for increased action to ensure the implementation of a National 988 Suicide and Crisis Line as soon as possible.

MP Collins reaffirmed his support for a National 988 Suicide and Crisis Line and gave his support to ensure its implementation as soon as possible. Joshua looks forward to continuing conversations with MP Collins to ensure community mental health within Hamilton and the implementation of a National 988 Suicide and Crisis Line.

Meetings with other Hamilton Area MPs and with members of the Minister's Office are planned over the rest of the month and into next month.
