Joshua Meets with McMaster Students Union for First Meeting of 2024

30 January 2024

Today Joshua met with McMaster Students Union (MSU) Vice-President Education Abigail Samuels and Associate Vice-President Provincial and Federal Affairs Jazzlyn Abbott to discuss matters about student mental health, suicide prevention, access to mental health resources, on-campus resources and education campaigns, and much more.

This meeting comes following a previous meeting with the MSU President late last year and the release of the 2024 Mental Health Calls of Action. This meeting is part of a 4 month long tour series of meetings highlighting select calls on both the federal and provincial levels to improve the mental health of everyone - including students.

The MSU reaffirmed their support for strong resources for student mental health and well-being while also ensuring continued action to ensure that everyone is able to get the support that they deserve.  The MSU continued to affirmed their continuing support for increasing student knowledge about mental health resources and committed to looking into a peer-to-peer student mental health resource on campus.

Meetings with members of the MSU will continue to be had over the remainder of the 2023-2024 academic year and into the future about these important issues.
