Statement on the 988 Crisis Line Implementation Day

Today I am beyond happy to see the official implementation of the National 988 Suicide and Crisis Line being implemented by the Government of Canada in partnership with numerous organizations across the country.
This new 3-digit national crisis line will work to connect people who are in distress with someone that they are able to talk with and will connect more people than ever to the distress and life-saving resources that they may need when they are in a moment of crisis.
With about 11 people in Canada on a daily basis taking their life from suicide, the new National 988 Suicide and Crisis Line is a step forward to connecting more people with the distress resources that they may need with a simple and easy-to-remember 3-digit number.
