Statement on Mental Health Week 2025
5 May 2025
This week Canadians mark Canadian Mental Health Week. A week this year from May 5 to May 11 dedicated to unmasking the real you.
There is always more to a person than their mental illness, but often times, many are afraid to speak about it further due to stigma, society views, or more. This year we are pushing back on that narrative as we hold deep conversations to unmask the real you.
While we have come far over the last number of years to speaking about mental health and addictions, providing more access to care and services, introducing a national 988, there is always more to be done by everyone in leadership positions and together in our communities. This includes having the Government of Canada re-appoint a Minister of Mental Health and Addictions.
This year, lets look further than just the surface of mental health issues and addictions. Let's look deeper at the person and how we can ensure mental health and addictions issues are addressed in Canada.
