Statement on World Suicide Prevention Day 2025

7 September 2025

Suicide prevention is everyone's responsibility.

While World Suicide Prevention Day may only be one day per year, there is never an end to the continuing conversation of working for prevention, education, and access to resources for all.

6 years since my first attempt, the motivation behind my advocacy work, I feel a hope within our society as conversations become easier, resources and prevention efforts continue to increase, and key policy changes make it easier for people to connect to help when they need it most (ex. National 988 implementation).

The work does not stop here, though. A fully implemented National Suicide Prevention Strategy is needed in Canada.

This September 10, let's continue to change the narrative on suicide and drive the conversation forward.
